  • VISIT OF HERMANN LOOS FOREIGN DELEGATION TO SLMA

    A high profile delegation comprising of 24 officers including Directors General of NCC and 68 school cadets from five SAARC countries; India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Maldives arrived at SLMA on 23rd October 2019 on their way to the National Cadet Corps Training Centre, Rantambe to witness the Hermann Loos Challenge Trophy 2019.

  • SRI LANKA MILITARY ACADEMY CELEBRATES 70TH ARMY DAY

    The 70th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army was celebrated at the Sri Lanka Military Academy with the participation of the Deputy Commandant, Brig K H K Kottawattha, all Wing Heads, military and civilian staff and officer cadets on 10th October 2019.

  • INTER-COMPANY COMBAT FIRING MEET- 2019

    The annual “Inter-Company Combat Firing Meet” of the Sri Lanka Military Academy was held from 20th to 22nd September 2019 at the Field Firing Range at Fox Hill, Diyatalawa. Brigadier Shantha Eshwaran, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy attended the prize-giving as the Chief Guest. All other Wing Heads along with officer instructors and officer cadets of all intakes were also present at the occasion.

  • GAMES NIGHT 2019

    “Games Night 2019” of Intakes 87, 88, 87B, 59(V), Lady intake 17, l6(V) and KDU 37 was glamorously held on 14th September 2019 at the Sino-Lanka Auditorium premises where the Commandant, Brig S K Eshwaran was the Chief Guest together with the Deputy Commandant, Brig Keerthi Kottewatte, all Wing Heads and most of the faculty members. The event was a wonderful opportunity for cadets to meet their parents, family members and relatives. The event offered the undergraduates firsthand experience in organizing a social event.

  • OPENING ADDRESS OF 121ST DRILL INSTRUCTOR COURSE

    The 121st Drill Instructor Course commenced on 02nd September 2019 and the Opening Address was delivered by the Commandant of the Academy, Brigadier S K Eshwaran at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium. The 127 SNCOs representing all Regiments of the Army will follow a comprehensive drill instructor course which is of three-month duration.

  • VISIT OF BRITISH MILITARY DELEGATION

    Dr. Sunil Kariyakarawana PhD, the Buddhist Chaplain to HM Forces and a delegation from Britain paid a visit to the Sri Lanka Military Academy on 31st August 2019.

  • THE 120TH DRILL INSTRUCTOR COURSE

    The passing out of the Drill Instructor Course -120 was jubilantly held at the “Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium” of the Sri Lanka Military Academy on 24th August 2019. Brigadier S K Eshwaran USP psc Hdmc, the Commandant of the Academy graced the event as the Chief Guest along with the Wing Heads, a cross section of SLMA officers and other ranks from all Wings. 132 NCOs representing Army and four from the Police Special Task Force, who successfully completed their drill instructor course, received Drill Instructor badges from the Chief Guest.

  • 27th ACADEMY DAY CELEBRATIONS

    The Sri Lanka Military Academy in commemorating the 27th Academy Day, organized religious and social activities under the guidance of the Commandant, Brigadier Shantha Eshwaran. Shramadana campaign were launched at the Diyatalawa Base Hospital on 18th August 2019.

  • A SESSION ON ‘MISSION COMMAND’

    On 12th August 2019, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake conducted a timely important speech on the military philosophy of ‘MISSION COMMAND’ for the Officer Cadets and the officer instructors of the Military Academy. During his lecture, he emphasized the concept of mission command to achieve relative advantages and the key principles such as exploration of initiative, building of cohesiveness, mutual trust, mission command orders, empowerment of subordinates to meet diversified multi-faceted combat threats and environments today and tomorrow. More importantly, the Commander emphasized on the dynamic role of a junior leader in complex fast-moving military domain by reinforcing the concept of Mission Command.

  • SLMA EQUESTRIAN SPORTS FESTIVAL 2019

    The second consecutive equestrian sports festival in Sri Lanka organized by the Equestrian Section of the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) in liaison with the Sri Lanka Equestrian Association (SLEA) was held on 11th August 2019 at the Polo Grounds, Diyatalawa. The occasion was graced by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake as the Chief Guest, Commander Security Force Headquarters (Cen), senior officers of the army and the police, the President of SLEA, Mr. Suranjith Premadasa and his officials, officers and families of SLMA and a large number of equestrian sports fans from around the country.
