Sri Lanka Military Academy

Serve to Lead

HEADQUARTERS

The Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) located in the garrison town Diyatalawa is the premier training institute of the Sri Lanka Army which trains officer cadets from their enlistment to commissioning. The SLMA conducts the regular long course which is of two years and nine months duration for gentleman cadets and courses of shorter duration for volunteer batches, lady intakes and DE courses. This cadet training institute encircled by a host of panoramic mountains with a salubrious climate throughout the year is ideal for strenuous training of officer cadets. The land extent of the SLMA is approximately 265 acres including the Polo Grounds which is a naturally landscaped playground.

The SLMA carries out its duties whilst upholding the motto, “Serve to Lead.” The mission of the Academy is to educate, train and inspire the officer cadets, so that they will be transformed to be patriotic by developing their character, military leadership, intellectual foundation with technical and tactical proficiency and other attributes to become Lady/Gentleman Officers of the Sri Lanka Army.
