The term "Counter-Revolutionary Warfare" (CRW) encompasses a range of strategies employed by militaries worldwide to equip soldiers for combat in hostile environments and extreme conditions. The SLMA offers this vital experience to its trainee Officer Cadets during their final term, by conducting Field Exercise Wanabambara in two phases for twenty-two days.

Opening Address marks the commencement of officer cadet training at the Military Academy, Diyathalawa. On 28th October 2024, 13 Officer Cadets from Intake DE III/2024, consisting of six medical officers and seven engineering officers were geared to undergo their basic intensive training with the Opening Address by the Deputy Commandant of the SLMA, Brigadier PSJD Samarasekara RSP USP ndc psc. During the speech, the Deputy Commandant highlighted the purpose of the military training, adherence to SLMA customs, traditions and SOPs while staying at the SLMA. He particularly emphasized the importance of living upon the 'Cadet Honour Code' and pursuing the Academy's motto, 'Serve to Lead', to be successful in military life. This special event was attended by all Wing Heads, officers, and other rank instructors of the SLMA.

On 25 October 2024, 38 student Officers of the Senior Command Course 12 (SCC 12) and 9 Directing Staff (DSs) from the Army War College (AWC), Buttala paid a usual visit to the SLMA, aiming to acquire knowledge and experience on military drill practiced in the Army. This visit has been included as a part of the SCC curriculum, conducted at the AWC. On their visit to the SLMA, they were first warmly welcomed by the faculty. Afterwards, they were imparted with the required theoretical and practical knowledge on Ceremonial Drills, Street Line, Guard Turnout, Guard of Honour, Guard Mounting & Dismounting, Staff Parade, Military Funeral Drills etc. which were demonstrated by the Drill Instructors and the students at a few designated locations of the Military Academy and Fox Hill general area. Finally, their visit concluded with an interactive session at the Officers’ Mess.

Dedication and hard work of the Direct Enlisted lady and gentleman Probationary Officers of Intake DE 2 - 2024 came to a success with the completion of three months Military Orientation Package which has been designed including the subject areas such as Drill, Weapons Training, Tactics, Regimental Accounts, Service Writing, Methods of Instruction, Leadership, Military Law and Administration.

On 10 October 2024, the Sri Lanka Military Academy conducted a special programme to celebrate the 75th Army Day. The programme commenced with hoisting of the Army Flag by the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier PSJD Samarasekara RSP USP ndc psc, followed by singing of the Army Anthem, a two-minute silence observance, reading of the felicitation message issued by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu.

The Inter Company Combat Firing Meet 2024 was held at the Field Firing Range (FFR) of Fox Hill from October 3 to October 5, 2024. Officer Cadets from Intakes 93, 93B, SC 21, and SC 22 participated in the competition representing their four Companies for the Champion Company Trophy.

The Opening Address traditionally signifies the beginning of the officer cadet training at the SLMA. On 5 October, 2024, Intake 62 V, consisting of 15 junior officer cadets, began their training with the Opening Address by the Deputy Commandant of SLMA, Brigadier P S J D Samarasekara RSP USP ndc psc. During his speech, he highlighted the objectives of the training, and the significance of adhering to military customs and traditions. He particularly emphasized the importance of respecting the 'Cadet Honour Code' and upholding the Academy's motto, 'Serve to Lead.' The event was attended by all Wing Heads, officers, and other rank instructors of the Intake.
