The Opening Address of the 135th Drill Instructor Course, conducted by the Sri Lanka Military Academy, took place on 28th January 2026 at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium. The Deputy Commandant of SLMA, Brigadier P S K Ranatungamage RSP psc addressed the 100 student drill instructors, who represented nearly all regiments of the Sri Lanka Army.
In his address, the Deputy Commandant emphasised the crucial role of Drill in instilling discipline among personnel, particularly once they complete their Course and return to their respective regiments and battalions. He extended his best wishes to all the participants as they embarked on their training journey.
The Course, which spans over 85 working days, includes training in Foot Drill, Arms Drill, Colours Drill, Pace Stick Drill, Sword Drill and Cane and Whip Drill. Additionally, these participants will be educated on parades and related events, leadership, etc.
The event was also attended by the Chief Instructor, the Head of the Training Team, and several faculty members and Drill Instructors of the Course.
