  • EXERCISE SEETHA SULANG OF INTAKE 93

    ‘Ex Seetha Sulang’ is one of the major Field military exercises, which is conducted for the trainees at the SLMA in order to give an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge on conventional warfare tactics and engagements gained during their initial military training in a designed setting to expose them to as close practical situations as possible.

  • VESAK CELEBRATION OF THE SLMA

    Vesak, is the most prominent Buddhist festivals in Sri Lanka, celebrated by engaging with meritorious deeds and religious activities. By marking this special event, the SLMA organized an elegant Vesak day programme under the supervision of Wing Heads. In the evening, a Bodhi Pooja programme was held at the Ella Camp premises, followed by a Vesak Lantern Competition at the Academy main drive. In fact, the Vesak Lantern Competition was organized with the purpose of promoting unity and teamwork among Academy personnel, Officer Cadets while showcasing their hidden artistic talents. The opening ceremony of the Competition was held in the evening of the Vesak Poyaday with the participation of the Overlooking Commandant of the SLMA, Brigadier RRMPNB Bambaradeniya RWP RSP USP psc together with Wing Heads, Officers, NCOs and trainee Officer Cadets. At the prize giving ceremony, the Admin Wing team was awarded with the first prize, the second by the Academic Wing team and the third place was obtained by the HQ team.

  • PARENTS’ DAY OF INTAKE 93B AND SC 21

    ‘Parents' Day’ is one of the special events in the annual SLMA almanac conducted with the purpose of showcasing the multidisciplinary talents and skills of Officer Cadets. The Cadets who acquire these talents and skills during their course of training at the Military Academy perform them in front of their parents, near and dear ones on a prescheduled day. The 18th May 2024 the Parents' Day of Officer Cadets of Intake 93B and SC 21 was held at the SLMA with the participation of their parents and relatives. This special event was graced by the Commandant - SLMA, Maj Gen M T I Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc as the Chief Guest along with the Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads and other Officers of the SLMA. The Parents’ Day programme was designed with a Drill Display at the Academy Parade Square, a Taekwondo and PT Display at the Academy Gymnasium, a Demonstration of an Attack on an Enemy Hideout at the Fox Hill general area followed by the customary Commandant’s address and an informal interactive session with the parents at the Officer Cadets' Mess.

  • INTERCOMPANY VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT-2024

    The Intercompany Volleyball Tournament of the Sri Lanka Military Academy is considered, one of the most significant and magnificent events in the Academy Calendar which is organized to inculcate sports values such as agility, speed, vigour, team spirit and sportsmanship within trainee officer cadets in a competitive spirit.

  • CADET GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENT AWARDING CEREMONY OF THE FIRST HALF OF 2024

    Since the inception of the officer cadet training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy formerly known as Army Training Center (ATC), Diyatalawa in 1968, the Cadet Government was introduced to bridge the gap between Officer Instructors and Officer Cadets and also to meet the required moral standards and leadership qualities of Officer Cadets. When awarding Cadet Government appointments, officer cadet’s performance in Military Subjects (including OQ Work Grade), English and Current Affairs, Officer Qualities and Extracurricular Activities such as achievement in competitions, participation in Club activities, voluntary contribution to the Organization etc.) is highly considered and meticulously evaluated.

  • VISIT OF ADJUTANT GENERAL TO THE SLMA

    On 26 April 2024, the Adjutant General of the Army Headquarters, Major General WWHRRVMNDKB Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc paid an official visit to the SLMA. On his arrival to the Military Academy, the Commandant- SLMA along with the Deputy Commandant cordially welcomed him to the SLMA at the main entrance of the Academy and also in honour, a Guard Turnout was accorded to him.

  • VISIT OF NAVAL AND MARITIME ACADEMY DELEGATION TO SLMA

    Field visits and study tours for students are generally organized to reinforce their experiential and contextual learning. On 24 April 2024, twenty-five midshipmen of the KDU Intake 36 & 37 undergoing their training at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee visited the SLMA, Diyatalawa as one of the destinations of their environmental and educational excursion.

  • SLMA EMBRACED “ZERO PLASTIC FOR A MODEL CAMP” CONCEPT

    As a concept of the present Commandant, a typical waste management system in the camp premises of the SLMA was recently implemented as all-time solution for both organic and inorganic garbage issue of the camp. Also, this project aimed at making the SLMA a model for Waste Management in the Garrison City-Diyatalawa.

  • ARMING TRI FORCE DRILL INSTRUCTORS WITH AN INTENSIVE DRILL INSTRUCTOR COURSE

    ‘Drill’ always forms the cornerstone of a military man’s life. On the top of which, drill is taught from the beginning of any military training in order to produce disciplinary soldiers. In pursue of this objective, a ten-day Basic Drill Instructor Basic Course with the assistance of three professional Drill Instructors from the School of Ceremonial United Kingdom was conducted at the SLMA for the second consecutive year as a concept of the Defence Attaché of the United Kingdom to Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives, Colonel Paul Clayton in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and the Directorate of Training of the Sri Lanka Army.
