The Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Major General M JRS Medagoda RSP USP ndc psc IG, awarded certificates to the Medical Officers who successfully completed the Special Military Training Programme conducted at the Academy, marking the culmination of an important phase in their professional journey.

The ceremony, held with military decorum, was attended by the Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Rank Instructors, and the Medical Officers who underwent training. Following the presentation of certificates, the Commandant delivered the closing address, congratulating the participants on the successful completion of the programme. He commended their discipline, enthusiasm, and adaptability throughout the training period and noted that, although the course was short in duration, it offered valuable exposure to the discipline, organization, traditions, and ethos of the Sri Lanka Arny, helping them integrate into the wider military fraternity.

Addressing the dual responsibility of the Medical Officers, the Commandant emphasized that they now serve not only as officers of the Army but also as healers devoted to the welfare and morale of the troops. He reminded them that their role, both in peace and in conflict, demands professionalism, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

"The Army expects from you not only medical excellence but also leadership, integrity, and commitment," he stated, urging them to uphold the core values of the Army, Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honour, Integrity, and Personal Courage throughout their service.

The Commandant further observed that the training had enabled the officers to better understand the lives and challenges of the men and women they will serve alongside, thereby strengthening their bond with the military community. He expressed confidence that this understanding would make them not only proficient medical professionals but also trusted officers and compassionate leaders.

Concluding his address, the Commandant wished the officers every success in their future appointments, encouraging them to serve with pride, uphold the dignity of their profession, and continue to reflect the values of the Sri Lanka Military Academy in all their endeavours.
