The Opening Address of Intake 95 Bravo was conducted on 07 January 2026 at the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), formally marking the commencement of military training for the newly inducted Officer Cadets.
Intake 95 Bravo comprises seventy Officer Cadets, including eight foreign cadets representing the Maldives, Rwanda, Senegal, and Tanzania, reflecting the Academy’s growing international engagement and reputation. The intake comprises 61 male and 9 female Officer Cadets, all of whom have successfully completed their academic studies at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University prior to reporting for military training.
Delivering the opening address, the Commandant of SLMA, Brigadier M M Thusitha Bandara USP AUSWC psc, warmly welcomed the Officer Cadets and highlighted the Academy’s proud legacy of producing exemplary military leaders under its enduring motto, “Serve to Lead.” He underscored that the military training phase serves as a critical transition from academic learning to the practical application of leadership in a demanding military environment.
The Commandant emphasised that the forthcoming training would rigorously test the physical endurance, mental resilience, moral courage, and leadership potential of each Officer Cadet. He further stressed the paramount importance of integrity, teamwork, discipline, and professionalism, noting that these core values underpin effective leadership and lifelong service to the nation.
In concluding his address, Brigadier Bandara encouraged the Officer Cadets to embrace the challenges ahead with determination and confidence, reminding them that their time at the Academy would shape their character, leadership ethos, and readiness for commissioning as officers of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces.
The event was attended by the Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Officers, and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Military Academy, underscoring the institution's collective commitment to the successful training and development of Intake 95 Bravo.
