  • LAYING A SOLID CORNERSTONE ON WAR LITERATURE

    Lieutenant Colonel EAA Sujith Chaminda Edirisinghe SLACAL is a senior officer with over thirty- two years of remarkable service in the Sri Lanka Army, whose military philosophy has been highly shaped by operational area experiences in the escalation of war during the Humanitarian Operation. More interestingly, he is also known as a writer, a poet, a composer, a painter as well as the Chief Editor of Ranaviruwa Magazine. He passionately promotes war literature related to the three-decade long conflict in Sri Lanka by exploring battle experiences of the Sri Lankan Soldier through numerous field research.

  • A GENEROUS BOOK DONATION TO THE SLMA LIBRARY

    On 10 August 2024, Mr. Kalana Chandimal Wakista, a well-known personality and trainer in the field of bookbinding, preservation, and conservation, made a generous contribution to the Major Indika Walisundara Memorial Library by donating forty-six publications on a wide range of subjects, including Buddhism, English Language Learning, Social Sciences, Biographies, Mass Media, and Fiction. This valuable collection will enrich the library's resources and broaden the horizons of Officer Cadets, Officer Instructors, and all other library users.

  • CADET GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENT AWARDING CEREMONY OF THE SECOND HALF OF 2024

    The induction of the Cadet Government Appointment dates back to1968, where the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) was then known as the ATC (Army Training Centre). The prime purpose of this new concept was to bridge the gap between officer instructors and officer cadets and to foster the required moral attributes and leadership qualities within young officer cadets. In general, these Cadet Government appointments are awarded, having evaluated their performance in Military Subjects (including Officer Quality Work Grade), Academic subjects along with English and Current Affairs, and Extracurricular Activities.

  • THE BEST ORATOR COMPETITION 2024; ‘SPEAK TO INSPIRE, INSPIRE TO SPEAK’

    The Best Orator Competition is held as an annual competition at the SLMA with the aim of fostering officer cadets’ confidence in public speaking, communication skills and leadership skills in a military learning environment. On 2 Aug 2024, the Best Orator Competition for the year 2024 was held at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium for the fourth consecutive times with the participation of Intake 93B, 93, SC 21, SC 22 and DE II/ 2024 under the theme ‘Speak to Inspire, Inspire to Speak.’

  • VISIT OF DIRECTOR GENERAL GENERAL STAFF - ARMY HEADQUARTERS TO THE SLMA

    On 1 Aug 2024, Director General General Staff (DGGS) of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General SAND Edirisinghe RWP RSP Hdmc psc paid his official visit to the SLMA in order to observe the training process at the SLMA and to discuss varied training concerns. On his arrival, the DGGS was extended with a warm welcome by the Commandant Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc together with the Deputy Commandant and all other Wing Heads of the Military Academy at the main entrance.

  • TRAINING AUDIT VISIT OF A TEAM FROM DIRECTORATE OF RESEARCH, CONCEPT AND DOCTRINE (DRCD) AT THE ARMY HEADQUARTERS

    On 30th July 2024, the Director - Research , Concept and Doctrine (DRCD) at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier TN Majeed RSP USP ndc Isc, Colonel - Training, Concept and Monitoring , Colonel DMGKH De Silva psc along with a few other Senior Officers paid an official visit to the SLMA in order to monitor, evaluate the current training curriculums conducted at the SLMA, and to introduce potential measures to uplift the training standards of the courses through a training audit.

  • VISIT OF SCC 11 TO THE SLMA

    On 30th July 2024, forty one student Officers of the Senior Command Course 11 (SCC 11) including the Senior Instructor and seven other Directing Staff (DSs) from the Army War College (AWC), Buttala visited the SLMA with the purpose of acquiring knowledge and experience on varied types of ‘DRILLS’ practiced in the Army, which is covered as a part of their course curriculum at the AWC.

    ‘DRILL’ is a much essential component in military training that nurtures discipline, teamwork, physical fitness, attention to detail, confidence, and combat readiness, all of which are essential qualities for a successful soldier.

  • THE OPENING ADDRESS OF INTAKE DE II/2024 & FOREIGN TRAINED OFFICER CADETS

    The Commandant's Opening Address traditionally sets a beginning to any officer cadet training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa. On 23 July 2024, 18 Officer Cadets from Intake DE II/2024 and 7 Foreign Trained Officer Cadets commenced their basic intensive training with the Commandant’s Address. The Commandant, Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc during his speech insisted on the purpose of military training, acquisition of military attributes and norms, and living upon the 'Cadet Honour Code' and the Academy’s Motto, 'Serve to Lead.' The event which took place at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium was also attended by the Deputy Commandant, all Wing Heads, Officers, and Other Rank Instructors. Following the Commandant’s Address, the Commanding Officer - OCW and the Chief Instructor - MTW educated the trainees on the respective roles played by each Wing in unfolding upcoming military curriculum of their training.
