4TH BOARD OF MANAGEMENT CONVENED AT THE SRI LANKA MILITARY ACADEMY

The 4th Board of Management (BOM) of the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) was successfully convened on 26 February 2026, reaffirming the Academy’s steadfast commitment to excellence in military training, institutional development, and professional leadership.

The session was chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, in his capacity as Chairman of the Board. The meeting was attended by senior members of the Army Headquarters and SLMA, including the Director General General Staff, Director General RCD. the Commandant of SLMA, Brigadier Thusitha Bandara USP AUSWC psc, Colonel Training representing the Director Training, Director Budget & Finance, Director Personnel Administration, and the Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing.

The day’s proceedings commenced with a dignified Drive Past at 0810 hours at the Thistle Camp ‘A’ Gate, symbolizing the discipline and esprit de corps of the Academy. This was followed by a Group Photograph at Headquarters SLMA, capturing the significance of the occasion.

Thereafter, the Chief of Staff addressed the trainee Officer Cadets at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium, where he delivered an inspiring and thought provoking address. Emphasizing the pivotal role of an Army officer in contemporary operational environments, he underscored the importance of: Mastery of battle procedures, functional and systematic approaches to command, exemplary leadership founded on integrity and professionalism. His address resonated strongly with the Officer Cadets, reinforcing the values and competencies essential for future leaders of the Sri Lanka Army. In a meaningful gesture that further strengthened the Academy’s academic foundations, the Chief of Staff donated a valuable collection of books to the SLMA Library, enriching its learning resources and supporting the intellectual development of Officer Cadets.

The formal Board of Management Conference followed thereafter. The proceedings commenced with a warm welcome by the Commandant, who highlighted the Academy’s recent progress and future aspirations. The Board engaged in comprehensive and forward looking discussions on: Training methodologies and curriculum development, proposed amendments to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), administrative and personnel matters, logistical and infrastructure enhancements. These deliberations facilitated constructive professional dialogue and the exchange of strategic insights. Importantly, the conference resulted in the formulation of practical recommendations and actionable decisions for both short-term implementation and long-term institutional advancement.

To mark the significance of the visit, the Commandant presented a special memento to the Chief of Staff at the Officers’ Mess, following a formal banquet hosted in honour of the distinguished delegation.

The successful conduct of the 4th Board of Management reflects SLMA’s enduring dedication to maintaining the highest standards of military training, leadership development, and institutional excellence. Through continuous review, professional engagement, and strategic foresight, the Academy remains resolute in its mission to mould competent, disciplined, and visionary officers for the Sri Lanka Army.
