INTAKE 92 PASSED THE FIRST HURDLE OF THEIR MILITARY TRAINING

The Oath Ceremony is a significant traditional event at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa which marks the successful completion of military orientation training by fresh trainees who give oaths before the National Flag (the Nation), Academy Flag (Alma Mater) and Company Flags (Membership). From this time onwards, these trainees abide by the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka against enemy threats, disasters while living up to the law and order of the country, SOPs, traditions, customs and practices of the Sri Lanka Military Academy and the Army.

On 3rd September 2021, 96 trainees from Intake 92 read their Oaths of Loyalty and Devotion to the SLMA and the country at the Academy Gymnasium. This customary occasion was graced by the Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing, Colonel Col W B M K G K Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP psc along with Company Commanders and Course Officers.

This moment becomes a very significant benchmark in a cadet’s life as they are privileged to wear white epaulettes on their shoulders which symbolize their orientation to the challenging military lifestyle, recognition and qualification to be a member of the SLMA. For juniors, this ceremony is ever-memorable and cherishing as the super seniors decorate their shoulders with white epaulettes.
