    ‘Independence Day’ is one of the special national festivals of Sri Lanka which is meant to commemorate the country’s independence from British rule in 1948. This triumphant day is celebrated all over the country through flag-hoisting ceremony, dances, parades and performances.

    The Opening Address by the Commandant is a custom practiced at the Sri Lanka Military Academy at the inception of any military course, which intends to motivate, guide and mentor the newly joined officer cadets along strenuous military training. On 02 February 2022, Intake SC 19 empowered with 66 energetic youngsters attended their Opening Address held at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium and the Commandant-SLMA Brig W W H R R V M N D K B Niyangoda RWP RSP USP ndu psc, graced the event as the Chief Guest along with other Wing Heads, Senior Officers and Officers of the Academy.

  • THE OPENING ADDRESS OF INTAKE LADY 19: FIRST CHAPTER OF THE MILITARY LIFE

    The Opening Address by the Commandant is a traditional military practice which means to give some prior guidelines on military transformation and encouragements to the newly joined trainees at SLMA. Intake Lay 19 consisting of 27 young lady cadets had their Opening Address at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium at 0900hrs on 20 January 2022 and the event was graced by the Commandant-SLMA Brig W W H R R V M N D K B Niyangoda RWP RSP USP ndu psc, along with Wing Heads, Senior Officers and Officers of the Academy.

  • THE 126TH DI COURSE ON BOARD

    The 126th Drill Instructors Course consisting of 128 SNCOs from 24 Regiments of the Sri Lanka Army began their comprehensive Drill Instructors’ Course conducted by the Sri Lanka Military Academy on 19 January 2022 and the course will be reading the conclusion on 30th April. The opening address of the course was held at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium with the participation of the Commandant as the Chief Guest.

  • FOUR NEW INTAKES STEP INTO THE VENTURE OF TRANSFORMATION

    The Opening Address by the Commandant officially symbolizes the beginning of challenging, yet magnificent military life of the fresh trainees who are directed to complete their basic military training at SLMA. KDU 91 B consisting of 53 officer cadets with a Maldivian trainee and a Zambian trainee, Direct Enlisted Course- 1/2022 with 38 officer cadets in varied professions, Lady 18 (V) with 16 lady officer cadets and Other Rank Commission Intake-1 with 22 officer cadets started their military training with the opening remarks made by Brig W W H R R V M N D K B Niyangoda RWP RSP USP ndu psc, the Commandant-SLMA on 14th January 2022 at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium.

  • OFFICERS’ REFRESHER PROGRAMME AT THE ADVENT OF NEW YEAR

    Refresher programmes are considered as training programmes which are designed with the purpose of acquainting employees of an organization with new skills, methods and processes required to improve their performance on the job. The SLMA conducted a refresher programme for its staff as they step into the new term at the advent of the new year. Its opening ceremony was held at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium on 06 January 2022 with the participation of the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier WSN Hemarathna RWP RSP psc as the Chief Guest.

  • THE NEW BEGINNING ON ANOTHER 365-DAY SPLENDID JOURNEY

    A New Year signifies the opening of a new chapter in everybody’s life with motivation, refreshment and a working spirit. On 3rd January 2022, the Sri Lanka Military Academy formally began its job of work for the new year 2022 with a flag hoisting ceremony.

  • THE SLACAL BLESSED WITH FOUR OFFICERS AND TWO LADY OFFICERS

    The Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock (SLACAL) which was initiated as a concept of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil on 07 January 2021 in order to pioneer the Government’s effort with island wide agriculture and livestock projects was empowered with six young officers including two lady officers ( Intake 89, 90 and Volunteer Lady Intake 17) who received their commission at the 96th Commissioning Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Military Academy on 19th December 2021. This will be written in the annals of the military academy history as the first set of officers who are originally posted to this newly established regiment of the Sri Lanka Army.

  • 96 TH COMMISSIONING PARADE OF SLMA BESTOWED 316 YOUNG OFFICERS TO THE NATION

    The commissioning parade marks the culmination of cadetship, and the beginning of a magnificent and challenging military career as newly Commissioned Officers of the Sri Lanka Army. The commissioning ceremony included four fabulous events, namely the Final Presentation, Commissioning Parade itself, Pipping Ceremony and the Commissioning Dinner.
