‘Exercise Frozen Trout’ derived its name from a trout which lives in extreme chilly waters and adapts itself to the clime and geography for its survival. This exercise is one of the main field exercises conducted for the trainees in the penultimate term to educate them on conventional warfare tactics in the general area Ambewela as a part of their military training curriculum. During this field exercise, Officer Cadets are expected to undertake the responsibilities of various operational appointments such as combat team commanders, subordinate commanders and so on in conventional warfare settings where practical application of military knowledge on four phases of war is particularly tested.
The Exercise was conducted from 18 June 2023 to 24 June 2023 in Ambewela with the active participation of 204 Officer Cadets from Intake 92B, Short Course 20 and Intake 92(A) and they acquired ground level experience on four phases of war; advance, attack, defence and withdrawal.
