The Opening Address by the Commandant at the very beginning of any officer cadet training at SLMA traditionally marks the commencement of military training at SLMA- Diyatalawa. On 05 June 2023, Intake 93 consisting of 78 fresh Officer Cadets began their training with the Opening Address by the Commandant, Maj Gen I A N B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium with the presence of Wing Heads, Officers and Other rank Instructors of the Academy.
By addressing the young trainees, the Commandant underscored the purpose of training, difference between the civil and military life, accumulation of military attributes and values such as discipline, integrity, loyalty etc., identification of own strengths and weaknesses, pride of being an army officer, adherence to ‘Cadet Honour Code’, stance of three obligatory principles of ‘Duty, Honour, Country’ while adding his heartiest wishes for a successful embarkment of training at SLMA. Following the Commandant’s Address, Wing Heads and a few senior Officers of each Wing conducted a few worthwhile awareness sessions to educate and orientate the trainees on core military disciplines, academic and military training curriculums in the new military training clime at the inception of challenging cadet training.
