THE FALL OUT CEREMONY OF FOURTEEN OFFICER CADETS TRAINED AT SLMA

The Fall Out Ceremony of Fourteen Officer Cadets trained at the Sri Lanka Military Academy under Intake 91, SC 19 (A), 61(V) A and 18 (V) were held on 28th June 2023 and the Ceremony was comprised of a charming Pipping Ceremony, CO’s Dinner Night and Felicitating Ceremony.

‘Pipping Ceremony’, known as a traditional and significant occasion of an Officer Cadet’s life signifies the completion of transformation from cadetship to commissioning. In other words, it symbolizes adorning of officer insignia on their shoulders, popularly known as pips to signify the President’s commission. Fourteen Officer Cadets trained at the Sri Lanka Military Academy under Intake 91, SC 19(A), 61(V) A and 18 (V) were adorned with pips at a delightful Pipping Ceremony held at Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium with the participation of their parents and family members. This special event was graced by the Commandant-SLMA Major General I A N B Perera RWP USP ndu psc as the Chief Guest and during his customary address, the Commandant complimented on the parents’ generosity of gifting their children to the Army while underscoring the responsibility of junior leaders and sharing some advice to align their professional career.

These fourteen lady and gentleman officers based on their academic and military performance and other key attributes joined varied Regiments of the Sri Lanka Army such as Sri Lanka Artillery, Sri Lanka Engineers, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Gajaba Regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Sri Lanka Service Corps, Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock, Sri Lanka Singha Regiment, Gamunu Watch, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police and Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps. Following the commissioning of these newly commissioned officers, CO’s Dinner Night was also organized at the Officer Cadets’ Mess by giving the prominence to years-old military tradition.

On 29th morning, the newly commissioned officers were welcomed in warmth to the home of officers known as “Officers’ Mess” where the Commandant along with a cross section of officers participated in this felicitating ceremony and ‘Coins’ in remembrance of their first visit to the Officers’ Mess were presented to all the newly commissioned officers. Amidst showers of blessings and congratulations, these fourteen officers made their departure from their Alma Mater with firm determination of discharging their duty for the Army and the Nation.
