The Sri Lanka Military Academy conducted a simple war heroes’ commemoration ceremony at the “Buddy Trio” statue marking the 9th anniversary of the defeat of terrorism with the patronage of the Commandant, Brigadier Priyantha Senaratne who spoke on the significance of the day, especially being the first country in recent times in the world to eradicate terrorism from its soil. The Commander’s message issued on account of the 9th anniversary was read by Major Asanga de Silva.

The Oaths Ceremony of Regular Intake 88 and Lady Intake 15 (Volunteer) took place on 17th May 2018 at the Academy Gymnasium where 67 lady and gentleman cadets read the Oaths of allegiance to the Sri Lanka Military Academy and the country.

A group of 6 Drill Instructors and 41 students from the Sri Lanka Air Force visited the Military Academy on 11th May 2018. The Course Officer - Drill Instructor Course along with Academy Sargent Major and Wing Sargent Majors warmly welcomed them to the institute. They visited the Monument of Peace, Parade Square, Drill Nursery and Museum.

A simple ceremony was held to mark the phase II of the construction work of the new Auditorium complex commenced on 8th May 2018. The Commander SFHQ-Central Major General G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG, Chinese Delegation led by the Chinese Defence Attaché and Wing Heads of SLMA participated in the event. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Commander SFHQ-Central singed the visitors’ book.

The Director Academics, Colonel Buddhika Perera conducted the traditional opening address for the 117th Drill Instructor course which will commence training from 8th May 2018 onwards and continue for a period of three months. In delivering the opening address, he welcomed the students and wished them all the best on behalf of the Commandant and staff of SLMA. The occasion was also attended by Wing Heads and respective course officers.

The biannual Inter-Company Combat Firing Meet of the Sri Lanka Military Academy was held on 05th May 2018 at the Field Firing Range located at Fox Hill, Diyatalawa. Colonel Ajith Wickramasekara, the Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing attended the prize-giving as the Chief Guest. Other Wing Heads, officer instructors and officer cadets of all intakes were also present at the occasion.

The Passing Out Parade of Drill Instructor Course - 116 was held on 1st May 2018 at the Sri Lanka Military Academy. The Commandant Brig Priyantha Senaratne graced the event as the Chief Guest while all the Wing Heads, a cross section of officers and other ranks from all the wings also attended the occasion.

A special celebration was organized by the Sri Lanka Military Academy under the direction of the Commander of the Army to mark the 50th anniversary of the first intake passed out from SLMA. Intake one consisted of fourteen officers and six of them participated in the event with their spouses.

The flagship of motorsports in Sri Lanka, Fox Hill Supercross was held on 21st April 2018 at Diyatalawa Fox Hill circuit for the twenty-sixth consecutive year. The event was organized by the Sri Lanka Military Academy in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, Sri Lanka Army Motorsports Committee, Sri Lanka Automobile Sports and Federation of Motorcycle Sports in Sri Lanka. Over 300 drivers and riders joined the races in twenty-three car and motorcycle events. As such, the event attracted a large volume of motorsports enthusiasts from all around the country.
