The biannual Inter-Company Combat Firing Meet of the Sri Lanka Military Academy was held on 05th May 2018 at the Field Firing Range located at Fox Hill, Diyatalawa. Colonel Ajith Wickramasekara, the Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing attended the prize-giving as the Chief Guest. Other Wing Heads, officer instructors and officer cadets of all intakes were also present at the occasion.

The Passing Out Parade of Drill Instructor Course - 116 was held on 1st May 2018 at the Sri Lanka Military Academy. The Commandant Brig Priyantha Senaratne graced the event as the Chief Guest while all the Wing Heads, a cross section of officers and other ranks from all the wings also attended the occasion.

A special celebration was organized by the Sri Lanka Military Academy under the direction of the Commander of the Army to mark the 50th anniversary of the first intake passed out from SLMA. Intake one consisted of fourteen officers and six of them participated in the event with their spouses.

The flagship of motorsports in Sri Lanka, Fox Hill Supercross was held on 21st April 2018 at Diyatalawa Fox Hill circuit for the twenty-sixth consecutive year. The event was organized by the Sri Lanka Military Academy in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, Sri Lanka Army Motorsports Committee, Sri Lanka Automobile Sports and Federation of Motorcycle Sports in Sri Lanka. Over 300 drivers and riders joined the races in twenty-three car and motorcycle events. As such, the event attracted a large volume of motorsports enthusiasts from all around the country.

322 cadets of KDU Intake 34 along with 12 officers and 31 NCO instructors paid a visit to the SLMA on 7th April 2018. Upon arrival, they received a warm welcome from the cadets and officer instructors of SLMA and at the outset of their visit they paid tribute to the "Monument of Peace".

The Commandant, Brigadier H H A S P K Senaratne delivering the opening address, warmly welcomed the sixteen lady cadets of Intake 15 (V) at the Colonel Fazly Laphir Memorial Auditorium on 06th April 2018. The Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Adjutant SLMA and Officer Instructors of the respective intake also attended the occasion.

The Commandant, Brigadier H H A S P K Senaratne extended a warm welcome to the officer cadets of Intake 88 in his Opening Address delivered at the Col Fazly Laphir Auditorium on 4th April 2018. The Deputy Commandant, all Wing Heads and course officers of the new intake also attended the event.

The “Ex Scorpion,” one of the main exercises in the training curriculum at SLMA was conducted from 25th to 31st March 2018 in Wellawaya area. The officer cadets of Intake 85 and 86 participated in it with the aim of gaining practical knowledge on Internal Security (IS) Operations in situations where civilians and public institutions are involved.

The Media Briefing of “Fox Hill Supercross 2018” was held at Galle Face Hotel Colombo on 29th March 2018. It was chaired by the Commandant and Chairman of Fox Hill Supercross 2018, Brigadier H H A S P K Senaratne while Mr Rizvi Farouk, the Secretary of Sri Lanka Automobile Sports and a host of sponsors that included Ceylon Agro Industries Ltd (Prima Group), Rohoto-Mentholatum Lanka (Pvt) Ltd (Baurs), Lions Brewery (Ceylon) PLC, LOLC PLC, Browns Power Mart (Exide), IT Gallery Computers (Pvt) Ltd, Northpole Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, S.K. Munasinghe Motors (Dunlop Agent), Demak Sales and Services Lanka (Ltd), Nimal Superlight (Generators) also participated in the event.

The Lady Intake 16 consisting of 21 Lady Officer Cadets and Direct Enlisted batch 1/2018 consisting of 21 Officer Cadets read their Oath of allegiance to the SLMA and the country on 16th March 2018 at the Academy gymnasium. This customary occasion was graced by the Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing along with Company Commanders and Course Officers.
