PASSING OUT PARADE 2019

The 94^th Commissioning Parade of the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa was ceremonially held on 21^st December 2019 at the Academy parade ground with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon Mahinda Rajapaksa, as the Chief Guest, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, retired Major General G D H Kamal Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc and the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc. The ceremony was also graced by the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, all Principal Staff Officers, Colonel Commandants, Colonels of the Regiments, Zambian Defence Attache, a large number of distinguished invitees, parents and well-wishers of passing out officer cadets. Upon arrival, the Chief Guest paid floral tribute to the fallen heroes at the Monument of Peace.

A total of 321 lady and gentleman officer cadets including 2 officer cadets from the Republic of Maldives and 2 officer cadets from the Republic of Zambia received the prestigious President’s commission from the Chief Guest. These officer cadets belonged to 5 intakes; Intake 87, 87B, Volunteer 59, Lady 17 and Volunteer Lady 16. The following officer cadets received special awards from the Chief Guest:

Regular Officer Cadet Intake 87

The Sword of Honour awarded to the Best All-Round Officer Cadet was received by Bn/U/O K G P H Kodagoda. The President’s Award for the First in Order of Merit was also received by him.

Regular Officer Cadet Intake 87 B

The President’s Award for the First in Order of Merit was awarded to Coy/U/O A M Chandrathilaka. He also received the Sword of Honour awarded to the Best All-Round Officer Cadet.

Volunteer Officer Cadet Intake 59

The President’s Award for the First in Order of Merit was awarded to O/Cdt P D T R L Pulleperuma. The Sword of Honour awarded to the Best All-Round Officer Cadet of the intake was received by Coy/U/O K M G D B Kangara.

Regular Lady Officer Cadet Intake 17

The President’s Award for the First in Order of Merit was awarded to Pl/U/O K P D I Madhushani.

Volunteer Lady Officer Cadet Intake 16

The President’s Award for the First in Order of Merit was awarded to Pl/U/O J P T Ranmali.

The Chief Guest posed for group photographs with all five intakes and planted an ironwood sapling in the Academy premises marking 94^th Commissioning Parade.
