  • COMMANDANT’S COLOURS AWARDING CEREMONY

    The Sri Lanka Military Academy conducted the first-ever Commandant’s Colours Awarding Ceremony in conjunction with the 26th Academy Day at the Colonel Fazly Laphir Memorial Auditorium on 28th August 2018.

  • 26TH ANNIVERSARY PARADE

    A ceremonial parade was accorded to the Commandant, Brigadier H H A S P K Senaratne on account of the 26th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Military Academy on 28th August 2018. The parade consisted of eight squads representing four wings and cadet companies and it was commanded by Colonel Nilantha Premaratne, the Chief Instructor of the Military Training Wing.

  • TRIBUTE TO FALLEN HEROES

    On account of the 26th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Military Academy, the Commandant, all faculty members and trainee officer cadets paid floral tribute to the fallen officers at the “Monument of Peace” on 27th August 2018.

  • SLMA EQUESTRIAN SPORTS FESTIVAL 2018

    The first-ever equestrian sports festival in Sri Lanka organized by the Equestrian Section of the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) in liaison with the Sri Lanka Equestrian Association (SLEA) was held on 26th August 2018 at the Polo Grounds, Diyatalawa. The occasion was graced by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake as the Chief Guest, Commander Security Force Headquarters (Cen), senior officers of tri-forces and the police, the President of SLEA, Mr. Suranjith Premadasa and his officials, officers and families of SLMA and a large number of equestrian sports fans from around the country.

  • THE ACADEMY CELEBRATES THE 26TH ANNIVERSARY

    The Sri Lanka Military Academy celebrated its 26th Anniversary on 20th August 2018 and on account that a series of events were held with the guidance of the commandant, Brigadier Priyantha Senaratne; shramadana campaigns at the Base Hospital, and Aurvedic Hospital, Diyatalawa, multi-religious observations, a processions leading to an all-night pirith chanting and an alms-giving.

  • SLMA CONDUCTS COMMUNITY SERVICE

    The Sri Lanka Military Academy celebrates its 26th Anniversary on 20th August 2018 and in concurrence two ‘Shramadanas’ were organized at the Base Hospital and Aurvedic Hospital of Diyatalawa on 17th August with the participation of about 200 trainee officer cadets and students of the drill instructor course no 117.

  • 101 NEW DRILL INSTRUCTORS PASS OUT

    The Passing Out Parade of Drill Instructor Course no 117 was held on 15th August 2018 at the Sri Lanka Military Academy. The Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing Colonel A P Wikramasekara graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while other Wing Heads, a cross section of officers and other ranks from all Wings also attended the occasion. On a special invitation extended to regiments, there were officers representing the regiments.

  • PARENTS OF INTAKE 59 (V) VISIT SLMA

    The Sri Lanka Military Academy organized a special meeting with the parents of Intake 59 (V) officer cadets on 12th August 2018 at the Colonel Fazly Laphir Memorial Auditorium where the Commandant, Brigadier Priyantha Senaratne, Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing, Colonel Ajith Wikramasekara and Chief Instructor of the Military Training Wing, Colonel Nilantha Premaratne addressed them. It functioned more as an interactive session, especially for parents to understand the type of military training their sons are undergoing at the Military Academy. The respective course officers and company commanders also participated in the event and they all interacted with parents. These officers emphasized the importance of allowing young school-leaving adults to undergo military training in order to transform them to be competent junior officers and useful citizens.

  • EXERCISE FROZEN TROUT

    The final exercise, in the conventional setting where Officer Cadets are tested in all four phases of war “Ex Frozen Trout” is one of the major field exercises in the cadet curriculum conducted in the general area Ambewela. The Officer Cadets practically exercised planning and sending recce/fighting patrols in order to gather intelligence, laying ambushes, launching and repulsing counter attacks under extreme weather conditions. The exercise was conducted as a two-sided ex, bestowing realism to the exercise and an opportunity for the appointment holders in particular to gain practical experience in handling troops under similar conditions to that of the real battle scenario.

  • OPENING ADDRESS OF INTAKE DE II - 2018

    Thirty-eight officer cadets of DE Intake II - 2018 arrived at the SLMA on 12 July 2018 for their basic military training. The batch comprises of professionals from various fields such as medicine, engineering, architecture, air ticketing, performing arts, criminology and agriculture. Their basic training will continue for four months at the SLMA before being commissioned into the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain or Major based on their qualifications.
