Thirty-eight lady and gentleman officer cadets of DE II/2018, whose military training commenced on 24thJuly 2018, received their course completion certificates at a special ceremony held at the Colonel Fazly Laphir Memorial Auditorium on 1st December 2018. The ceremony was graced by the Commandant, Brigadier Priyantha Senaratne as the Chief Guest while the Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Company Commanders and Course Officers also attended the event. The Commandant during his closing remarks underscored the importance of basic military training as well as positive attitude for successful future functioning in their respective fields.
The concise and compact military package comprised of bare essentials of military teachings including Service Writing, Regimental Accounts, Military Law, Drill, Weapons Training, Leadership and Admin in the Field with a touch of two main exercises; exercise Scorpion and exercise Wanabambara.
The Academy hosted them for a special banquet at the Officer Cadets’ Mess on 2nd evening to celebrate their successful termination of the course.
Upon leaving the Military Academy, they will be serving the Sri Lanka Engineers, Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Corps of Engineer Services, Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers and Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps depending on their professional qualifications and enlistment criteria.
Officer Cadet I Wickramaarachchi who topped the batch received a special prize from the Commandant for his outstanding performance.
