The Ordnance New Year Festival was successfully held on 25 April 2026 at the Rugby Ground of RHQ SLAOC, with the participation and support of all establishments of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps.
The event was graced by Major General WMSN Wijekoon ndc AATO, Quarter Master General and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, together with Mrs. Shirani Nirmalin Wijekoon, President of the SLAOC Seva Vanitha Branch, as the Chief Guests.
In keeping with tradition,the Chief Guests and senior officers were warmly welcomed to the festival by the Arachchila and Arachchi Hamine in keeping with traditional customs. A tea table was also arranged at the Arachchila’s home, adding a cultural touch to the occasion. A variety of traditional games were conducted during the festival. Among them, the tug of war was a highlight, with 12 teams participating. The RHQ team emerged victorious, defeating the ACD team in the final.
The event concluded with the presentation of valuable gifts to all winners, marking a successful and enjoyable celebration of the New Year festival.
