Sri Lanka Army Shares Insights on Resilient and AI-Enabled Logistics for KDU Logistics Day 2026

In parallel with the forthcoming Logistics Day 2026, organized by the Department of Management and Finance of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), an interview with the senior logistics leaders of the Sri Lanka Army was conducted for publication in the Logistics Time Magazine.

This session took place on 12 March 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Quartermaster General’s Branch with the participation of the Quarter Master General and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, Maj Gen W M S N Wijekoon ndc AATO at Army Headquarters. A group of undergraduate students from KDU participated in the discussion, engaging with senior Army logistics officers to gain professional insights into modern military supply chain practices.

During the session, Army representatives shared their perspectives on the evolving landscape of military logistics, emphasizing the importance of resilience, adaptability, and technological integration in sustaining operational effectiveness. Particular attention was given to the emerging role of Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies in enhancing logistics planning, predictive maintenance and inventory management.

The discussion also highlighted how the Sri Lankan Army continues to modernize its logistics framework to meet contemporary operational requirements while ensuring efficiency, accountability, and sustainability in supply chain management. This collaboration further reflects the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to knowledge sharing and professional development within national defence. The insights gathered from this session will contribute to broader discussions on future-ready logistics and the role of technology in defence supply chains.
