In commemoration of World Children’s Day, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the SLAOC spearheaded a community outreach initiative at the “Sukitha” Handicapped Children’s Home in Horana on 01 October 2025.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mrs. Shirani Nirmaleen Wijekoon, President of the SLAOC Seva Vanitha Branch, and under the directions of Major General WMSN Wijekoon ndc AATO, Quarter Master General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps. The event was organized with the objective of uplifting the welfare and well-being of the resident children.
The day’s activities included the donation of essential items, a comprehensive cleaning programme and the provision of a special dinner for 43 children. To add joy and colour to the event, a Calypso band entertained the children, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of senior members of the SLAOC Seva Vanitha Branch, senior officers and officers of the Corps of Ordnance.
