Colonel AGCR Amarasinghe USP ato formally assumed the role of the 24th Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps on July 4th , 2024, in a dignified and elegant ceremony held at the RHQ SLAOC in Dombagoda.
The day's proceedings began with Lt Col WKSP Walakanda USP Lsc ato, the SO 1(A) RHQ SLAOC, warmly receiving Col Rishantha Amarasinghe at the main entrance, followed by a formal guard turnout. Subsequently, a floral tribute was paid at the Fallen War Heroes Monument, and a sapling was planted at the RHQ premises. After a brief religious observance, the new Centre Commandant affixed his signature to a formal document, signifying his acceptance of the duties and responsibilities of this prestigious appointment, in the presence of the Regimental staff and invitees. Later, a photograph was then taken with senior Officers and Regimental staff.
During his address to the troops, the new Centre Commandant emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts, and the development of the corps with disciplined personnel. The day’s proceedings culminated with an All Ranks tea, offered in honor of the new Centre Commandant.
