A ceremonial farewell was accorded to Colonel KMAWK Perera AATO, the outgoing Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, marking the conclusion of his distinguished tenure of 1 year and 3 months at the Regimental Headquarters SLAOC. This honorable event took place on the 3rd of July 2024 at the Regimental Centre in Dombagoda, adhering to military traditions and customs.
In line with these traditions, Lieutenant Colonel WKSP Walakanda USP Lsc ato, the Staff Officer 1 (Administration) at RHQ SLAOC, extended a warm welcome to Colonel Ashoka Perera and invited him to review the Guard turnout at the main entrance. Subsequently, a floral tribute was paid at the Fallen War Heroes Monument. He was then escorted to receive the salute from the proud and dignified ceremonial parade, with photographs taken alongside the Officers.
During his address to the troops, the outgoing Centre Commandant acknowledged the support he received throughout his tenure and emphasized the importance of discipline. He also expressed his best wishes for the Corps' future success. This was followed by an All Ranks tea.
Before offering their best wishes to the outgoing Centre Commandant through a street line, a photograph was taken with the Regimental staff.
Later in the day, a formal farewell dinner was hosted at the Regimental Officers' Mess. During this gathering, the departing Centre Commandant received a special memento from incoming Centre Comdt Col AGCR Amarasinghe USP ato.
