On their arrival, they were warmly welcomed by the Commandant of Army Ordnance Industries, Brig BRA Jayarathne USP ato at the main entrance of the AOI along with the Deputy Commandant of AOI, Lt Col GAIS Nanayakkara AATO, and other senior officers. This is the first visit of SLMA Officer Cadets to the AOI after its relocation on 08 December 2022 at Veyangoda “Vetex Textile Mills premises".
As the first segment of the days itinerary, the Commandant of AOI conducted a presentation to the Officer Cadets on Army Ordnance Industries (AOI) explaining the importance of having such facility for the Army. There after officer Cadets visited the production lines to see how various items are being manufactured. AOI premises comprises separate production units such as apparel, belts, berets, shoes, weavings, iron beds and equipment manufacturing sections.
At the end of the days itineraryOfficer cadets extended their heartfelt gratitude and thanks all Senior Officers, Officers, NCOs for making their visit informative and fruitful and alsoexchange mementos to mark the event.
