MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING OF SLAOC SEVA VANITHA

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps held its Monthly Committee Meeting on 13 October 2025 under the directions of Major General WMSN Wijekoon ndc AATO, Quarter Master General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, within the distinguished confines of the conference hall at the Seva Vanitha Building in RHQ SLAOC,Dombagoda. The meeting was presided over by the Honorable President of the SLAOC Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Shirani Nirmaleen Wijekoon , and was graced by the presence of Seva Vanitha members of SLAOC.

Upon arrival, Mrs. Shirani Nirmaleen Wijekoon was warmly received by members of the SLAOC Seva Vanitha Branch.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the President, joined by several other distinguished members of the Branch. Following the recitation of the Seva Vanitha Anthem, a moment of profound reflection ensued as all participants observed a two-minute silence to honor the memory of fallen war heroes who sacrificed their lives in defense of the motherland.

As a significant initiative in line with the benevolent vision of the Honorable President, financial assistance was extended to Mr. G Geeth Udaya Kumara, a dedicated civil staff member who sustained injuries on three occasions in 1996 at Paranthan, 1999 at Vavuniya and 2006 at Muhamalai due to LTTE attacks during his service. This gesture recognized his loyalty and continued dedication to duty.

The meeting provided a platform for members to review ongoing activities, discuss future welfare projects and share constructive suggestions for the betterment of the Corps community. Proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the successful end of the session.

Following the meeting, the President and members visited the plantation area near the Officers’ Mess to explore possibilities for future welfare and environmental initiatives.
