A ceremonial farewell was accorded to Major General E M M Fernando Hdmc Lsc AATO, the Commander Logistics Command and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, marking his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after an illustrious military career spanning over 34 years. This dignified event took place on 07 July 2025 at the Regimental Centre, Dombagoda, in keeping with time honoured military customs and traditions.
In accordance with ceremonial protocols, Brigadier A G C R Amarasinghe USP ato, the Centre Commandant, warmly welcomed Major General Fernando upon his arrival and invited him to review the Guard Turnout at the main entrance. The senior officer was then accorded the honour of receiving the salute of the proud and stately Regimental Parade, followed by a group photograph with officers of the Corps.
An All Ranks tea was then held, during which the outgoing Colonel Commandant addressed the troops. In his heartfelt speech, Major General Fernando expressed his sincere gratitude for the unwavering support extended to him throughout his career and reflected on the significant contributions of the Ordnance Corps to the operational effectiveness of the Sri Lanka Army. He also conveyed his best wishes for continued success and excellence of the Corps in the years ahead.
To conclude the day’s proceedings, a formal farewell dinner was held at the Regimental Officers' Mess, upholding the rich traditions of military camaraderie and respect. During the evening, the outgoing Senior Officer was presented with a special memento in appreciation of his exemplary service, followed by his farewell address.
