CEREMONIAL FAREWELL ACCORDED TO RETIERING COLONEL COMMANDANT

Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps on Monday 09th August 2021 in a fitting goodbye ceremony at the Regimental Centre in Dombagoda farewell one of its exemplary Senior Officers, Major General Chandana Marasinghe RSP USP, the Master General Ordnance and Colonel Commandant SLAOC retired from the Army after a distinguished career of more than 35 years of service.

According to the military traditions and customs the Centre Commandant Brigadier Ajith Munasinghe RSP ato welcomed the Colonel Commandant and invited to review the Guard turnout at the main entrance and accompanied to the salute of the proud, dignified military guard of honour.

After the tree planting, the Colonel Commandant joined with officers for a tea at the Offices’ Mess. He also signed a few documents in respect of his relinquishment of the appointment in the office.

Also the Colonel Commandant declared open the newly constructed Officers’ accommodation block at Officers’ Mess. With the vigorous guidance of the Colonel Commandant this was constructed within a few months by virtue of sheer commitment and dedication of the Staff Officers and troops of the Regimental Centre.

Later in the day, he was hosted to a formal dinner at the Regimental Officers’ Mess in accordance with military traditions where the departing Senior Officer was presented with a special memento before he delivered his farewell speech to the gathering.

A brief commemoration was held adhering to health regulations and guidelines.
