VISIT OF THE REGIONAL ORDNANCE DEPOT COMPLEX PUNANI AND AGUNAWELPALESSA BY THE COMMANDANT CENTRAL ARMS AND AMMUNITION DEPOT

The Commandant of the Central Arms and Ammunition Depot, Col CT Siriwardana Lsc AATO, conducted official visits to the Regional Ordnance Depot Complex in Punani on 21 April 2026, followed by the Agunawelpalessa complex on 22 April 2026.

During the visits, the Commandant carried out a comprehensive inspection of the 15 ammunition igloos located within the Regional Ordnance Depot Complex in Punani, as well as the 12 ammunition igloos in Agunawelpalessa.

The visits aimed to ensure the security and safety of ammunition dumps within the outer perimeter and high-security zones. The Commandant evaluated storage standards and the overall efficiency of ammunition management, advised on handling unserviceable ammunition, and addressed administrative issues concerning ordnance troops. Commandant also took the time to personally recognize the ammunition technicians for their professional excellence and steadfast dedication.

The visits provided a valuable assessment of the Sri Lanka Army’s largest ammunition dumps, reaffirming their status as exemplary facilities maintained to the highest operational standards.
