The award ceremony for the ‘Inter-Regiment Sports Championship 2024’ was held at the Grand Maitland on 3rd December 2024, celebrating a successful year of sports within the Sri Lanka Army. The event featured 29 inter-regiment competitions hosted across regimental centers nationwide.
The ceremony began with the Army song and a two-minute silence to honor fallen war heroes.
Major General EMM Fernando, Commander - Log Command and Colonel Commandant of SLAOC, along with Brig AGCR Amarasinghe, Centre Commandant, attended the event, showing strong regimental support for Army sports.
The Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps shone throughout the year, securing runners-up titles in Judo, Volleyball, and Badminton.
The ceremony recognized outstanding achievements, with winners and runners-up receiving trophies and awards. Internationally recognized sportsmen and sportswomen were also rewarded with cash incentives.
The event emphasized the role of sports in promoting camaraderie, discipline, and excellence, with the SLAOC continuing to inspire and uphold the Army’s sports legacy.
