Unveiling Ceremony of "Major General Lionel Aluvihare Drive”

The Unveiling Ceremony of "Major General Lionel Aluvihare Drive" was held at RHQ SLAOC on 2 January 2026, marking a moment of profound significance in honour of distinguished service, leadership and enduring legacy. The drive has been named in recognition of Major General Lionel Aluvihare’s pivotal role in identifying and selecting the present camp premises, a decisive contribution that laid the foundation for the establishment and continued development of the Regimental Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps.

The unveiling ceremony was graced by Major General LB Aluvihare (Retd) USP psc AATO, who unveiled the drive plaque at the invitation of the Quarter Master General and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, Major General W M S N Wijekoon ndc AATO. Following the unveiling, a group photograph was taken with council members and later cheif guest and all the senior officers/ officers participated in a refreshment session.

The event was attended by the council members of SLAOC, senior officers, officers, and other ranks of the Corps, reflecting collective respect, gratitude, and pride for the invaluable service rendered. The occasion stood as a lasting symbol of recognition, institutional heritage, and timeless contribution of Major General LB Aluvihare (Retd) USP psc AATO, within the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps.
