The Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance corps successfully organized a comprehensive Seva Vanitha program on 05 February 2026, reflecting a harmonious blend of religious devotion, military tradition, and compassionate community service.
The day commenced on a sacred note with a Kiripidu Pooja at the historic Ruwanweli Maha Seya, invoking blessings for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of all ranks and their families.
The official proceedings began with the ceremonial lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the Chief Guest, Major General W M S N Wijekoon ndc AATO together with The president of Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs. Nirmalee Wijekoon, in the presence of other distinguished invitees of Seva Vanitha branch. This was followed by the soulful rendition of the Seva Vanitha Song, after which a two-minute silence was respectfully observed in solemn remembrance of the fallen War Heroes, honoring their supreme sacrifice to the nation.
A significant segment of the program was devoted to welfare and community outreach initiatives. School essentials were distributed among 21 x children of families of Other Ranks and Civil Workers.In addition, donations were extended to 5 x personnel affected by “Ditwah”, while essential care items were also gifted to two expectant mothers, symbolizing th continued commitment to compassion and social responsibility.
The formal proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, marking the end of the official ceremony.
Finally refreshments were hosted to all participants providing an opportunity for fellowship and interaction, following which the distinguished guests departed, bringing the event to a successful and memorable conclusion.
