1. 23 Division with the support of Mr Priyan Pushpakumara donated 100 wheel chairs to the needy people in 23 Division area on 17 July 2017 at the 23 Division premises. Mr Priyan Pushpakumara spent about 2 mil rupees for this project which helped these 100 persons who were suffering to move freely to attend their day to day activities easily. This special event was graced by the Commander Security Forces ( East), Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu as the Chief Guest. General Officer Commanding of 23 Division.

As per the direction of MOD and with the approval of Comd of the Army, the Chief Incumbent of Sri Bodhiraja Temple, Thennahena, Pitabeddara Ven Elamaldeniye Sirinanda Thero conducted a special pooja of determination to invoke blessings on troops deployed in SF (E). Theater from 27 Jul 2017 – 30 Jul 2017 (four days) covering all three divisions. \r\nDuring this four day program of blessings, it was fascinating to see the entire attended Officers and ORs lined up holding a lit clay oil lamp on their hands.

Lieutenant Colonel Douglas C. Hess, Incoming Senior Defence Official and Defence Attaché paid courtesy visit at the Security Forces Headquarters East on Wednesday 02 Aug 2017.rnrn The cordial and brief meeting with Commander Security Forces East, Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, was ensued for a discussion which was taken up for matters of mutual interests and recalled friendly relations and situations that US frontward their hands to Sri Lanka.

Commander Security Forces (E), Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu visited 4 GW deployed in, Unnachchi on 03 Aug 2017. On arrival, the visiting Comd SF (E) was given with a formal Guard Turnout at the entrance of Bn HQ and thereafter he was warmly welcomed by Lt Col AD Rodrigo RWP RSP psc GW, the Commanding Officer.\r\nDuring the visit, the Comd SF (E), planted a Mango Sapling to mark his visit to 4 GW followed by an all ranks tea. Brigadier General Staff of SF HQ (E) too accompanied the Comd SF (E) during the visit.

Basic Computer Course No 2 of the year 2017 conducted at SF HQ East for Officers/ORs serving in the AOR was successfully concluded on 08 August. The closing address was delivered by Brigadier General Staff Security Force Headquarters (East) Brigadier U A T Hennedige RSP. The computer course was conducted in association with Orient Academy Limited for 21 x working days from 12 Jul 17 to o8 Aug 17 with a view to enhance the computer literacy of 01 x Officer and 39 x Other Ranks deployed in Security Forces (East ) AOR.

Basic Computer Course No 3 of the year 2017 designed for Other Ranks commenced on 17 August 2017 at Security Force Headquarters (East) with a view to enhance the computer literacy of soldiers. The opening address was delivered by GSO I (Coord) SF HQ (East) Lt Col P P C Perera psc. The course is conducting in association with Orient Academy Limited for 21 x working days.

Brig B A L Ratnayake assumed duties as Brigadier General Staff of SF HQ (East) on 17 August 2017 in an auspicious time after observing religious rituals.

A worthwhile donation program and offering a meal for pregnant mothers were held at Welikanda on 02 Sep 2017 with the presence of HE the President Maithreepala Sirisena along with his family members. 412 x pregnant mothers were provided nutritious food packs, essential basic equipment and offered a delicious lunch during this charitable event which was totally funded by the family of HE the President.\r\n\r\n As per the directions of Comd of the Army, tps of SF HQ (E) assisted in preparing the lunch and organizing the buffet among the pregnant mothers and their NOKs of more than 1500.

The closing address was delivered by Brigadier General Staff, Security Force Headquarters (East) Brigadier B A L Rathnayaka. The computer course was conducted in association with Orient Academy Limited for 21 x working days from 17 Aug 17 to 14 Sep 17 with a view to enhance the computer literacy of 39 x Other Ranks.

The newly constructed accommodation block at Corel Cove Holiday Resort Kayankerni was declared open by the Comd SF (E) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu on 15 September 17 with the view of enhancing basic facilities of the working staff. The simple & charm opening ceremony was followed by an all ranks tea. The Comd SF (East) commended the contribution made by ESR troops in round the clock to complete the project within a period of three months.
