Newly constructed Bodi Prakaraya at Mahawapiya Temple at Ampara was auspiciously opened by the Major General LM Mudalige RWP RSP ndu, GOC – 24 Division on 04 February 2018 as per the invitation of Ven Sarana thissa Thero.

The Bodi Prakaraya and the surrounding of the Bodi maluwa was constructed by the troops of Corps of Engineer Service (CES) and 16 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) of 24 Division with the instructions of Commander, Security Force (East) and close supervision of GOC - 24 Division.

Troops under 24 Division and sister services in Ampara District commemorate the 70th National Independence day in front of Ampara Tank this morning (04 Feb) in parallel to the National Independence Ceremony at Galle Face. The prestigious parade were displayed by 8 Officers and 227 Other Ranks of Tri Service Personnel together with Police, Special Task Forces and Civil Security Force.

The National Independence Day celebration ceremony was organized by the Trincomalee District Secretariat in coordination with 22 Division on 04th February 2018 at Fort Fredric, Trincomalee.

In line with the 70^th Independence Celebrations of Sri Lanka and the Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival, a Chinese Cultural Show was organized by the Security Force Headquarters (East) along with Divisional Secretariat Welikanda in collaboration with China Cultural Centre of Sri Lanka at the auditorium of Aselapura Maha Vidyalaya Welikanda on Saturday (03). This spectacular Chinese Cultural Show was an initiative of the Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala aimed at introducing different aspects of cultures especially to our dear sons and daughters of under privileged schools and it was organized in line with the series of community oriented programmes organized in commemoration of 70th Independence Celebrations by the Sri Lanka Army.

The basketball team of 24 Division becomes the champions of the Inter-Division Basketball Tournament beating 22 Division by 75 - 70 points as the finals drew to the closure at the SF HQ (East) basketball court amidst a large gathering of sports lovers and supporters.
