Development forum of Arugambay organized a Half Marathon at Arugambay with the assistance of 242 Brigade. The theme of this year was "Rise up Sri Lanka”. Huge numbers of local and foreign competitors have participated. Massive crowd gathered to Arugambay to witness this annual event. 242 Brigade troops have given the fullest support to make the event colorful.
Troops serving in 241 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters (East) launched a coastal belt cleaning project on Wednesday (07) at Sinnamuhuduwaran costal area Akkaraipattu which was highly polluted due to the discarded wrappers, empty beer cans and heaps of polythene.

In view of enhancing the existing good image about the military among general public in Batticaloa and to mark the Poson Poya day, all ranks of the 10th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment organized a“Rice Dansel” at Bar Road (Close to Batticaloa Railway station) on 16 June 2019 under the direction of its Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Ruwan Ehelepola USP USACGSC. Colonel General Staff - 23 Division and acting Comd of 231 Brigade Colonel Wasantha Bandara graced the occasion and declared the “Dansel” open to the public. The civilian response to this noble event was very high and approximately 2,000 civilians came to the “Dansel”. Headquarters 233 Brigade organized a programme with the assistance of ‘Gandhi Foundation’, Kottawa to donate household commodities and school accessories to the people of Kungalkalkulam area. The event was held on 25 May 2019 at cultural hall Kungalkalkulam. The commodities packs were distributed among 172 families and 34 school children of the area. The Commander 233 Brigade, Colonel Ranjith Elvitigala USP, Officers and members of the ‘Gandhi Foundation’ attended for the event.
In order to pay tribute and commemorate fallen War Heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the Motherland, the Security Force (East) too joined the island wide ‘Dasawarshabhisheka’ Walk for Peace on 22 May 2019 under the guidance of Major General Aruna Jayasekera Commander Security Force (East).
