IFTHAR CEREMONY IN ERAVUR

A traditional "Ifthar" ceremony, organized by 11 Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery under command to 23 Division took place at the Alighar National School, Eravur on Wednesday (06) evening with the participation of the General Officer Commanding 23 Division, Brigadier Chula Abenayaka, as the Chief Guest. This was conducted in line with the series of community-oriented programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Army aimed at building a peaceful multi-ethnic, multi-religious society for future generations by creating common understanding among different faiths in the country.

A traditional "Ifthar" ceremony organized by 22 Division took place at the cafeteria premises of Headquarters 22 Division on Tuesday (05) evening with the participation of Islamic leaders of Trincomalee (more than 110 members) of Ulama congregations of Islamic faith together with Moulavis of Trincomalee town“ Kuchchiweli, Kinniya, Muthur, Thopur, Thambalagamuwa and Kanthale areas’ After conducting the Islamic prayers, the formal fast breaking took place by swallowing a glass of water by the devotees.

22 DIVISION CONTRIBUTES FOR EASTEN PROVINCE WAR HEROES’ COMMEMORATIVE CEREMONY

A commemorative ceremony, in remembrance of War Heroes of the Tri-services, Civil Security Department and the Police, jointly organized by Eastern Province Governor’s office and Ranaviru Seva Authority with the coordination of 22 Division of Security Force (East), got underway at Fort Fredrick grounds Trincomalee on Monday (28).

2(V)SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS CELEBRATES ITS 38TH ANNIVERSARY

2nd (Vol) Sri Lanka Signal Corps celebrated its 38th anniversary with a series of events under the guidance of the Commanding Officer Lt Col Bathiya Jayaweera. The proceedings in connection with the anniversary celebrations commenced with a solemn religious ceremony at sacred Somawathiya Temple which comprised a bodhi pooja, gilanpasa pooja followed by invoking blessings to the troops.

TROOPS UNDER 24 DIVISION COMMEMORATE NATIONAL WAR HEROES DAY

On the directing of General Officer Commanding 24 Division, Major General LM Mudalige RWP RSP ndu troops under 24 Division has organized several religious programmes to invoke blessing and commemorate all war heroes who sacrificed their lives and injured being in the battlefield during past three decades of brutal war to save the mother Lanka from the LTTE terrorists. Programmes were consist with multi religious observances covering selected religious places on the day of National War Heroes Day (May 19).

TROOPS OF 24 DIVISION CELEBRATE THE SINHALA AND TAMIL NEW YEAR WITH SARANA ELDERS HOME

On the direction of General Officer Commanding 24 Division, Major General Mahinda Mudalige RWP RSP, Inmates at the Sarana Elders Home - Ampara were hosted delicious lunch with the participation of 8 Officers together with 30 Other Ranks in order to celebrate the customs and tradition of Sinhala and Tamil New Year on 14 April 2018.

FRATERNITY BUILDING CRICKET TOURNAMENT IN MUTHUR

A Cricket Tournament, aimed at strengthening the harmony and reconciliation among different ethnicities, concluded successfully at Kinniya Public Grounds on Saturday (28) amidst a large gathering of cricket fans. A total of 39 Sports Clubs in Muthur area participated in the tournament which was organized under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 22 Division Major General Aruna Jayasekara and Commander 224 Brigade, Colonel P Ediriweera.

TROOPS UNDER 24 DIVISION CELEBRATED SINHALA AND TAMIL NEW YEAR FESTIVAL

Giving prominence to custom and traditions, troops under 24 division celebrated Bakmaha Ulela with their beloved families and close relatives at the Division Headquarters premises on 11 April 2018. This is the second consecutive year the ceremony was conducted with the direction of General Officer Commanding 24 Division, Major General LM Mudalige RWP RSP.
