AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON AWARDING NVQ CERTIFICATES TO SOLDIERS INVOLVED IN CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

A considerable number of soldiers who are capable in trades such as plumbing, masonry, electrics, carpentry etc in the Sri Lanka Army are presently employed for national development projects and the experience gained by the soldiers holds beneficial to the individual in particular and the organization in general.

BRITISH COUNCIL ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSE FOR OFFICERS AT SF HQ (EAST)

An English Language Course for Middle Grade Officers was commenced at SF HQ (East) on 27 November in coordination with the Dte of Trg Br and British Council in Sri Lanka. The course was fundamentally designed to improve the aptitude of officers in the English language, to develop the confidence to communicate in English and to develop job specific and employability skills of officers serving in the AOR. Mr. Michael Cartwright, a foreign instructor of British Council delivers the course intensively over 2 weeks.

22 DIVISION FACILITATED G.C.E (O/L) SEMINARS IN KINNIYA

22 Division facilitated educational seminars for the benefit of students sitting the G.C.E(O/L) examination in December - 2017 at Central College Kinniya and AL –Aksha Vidyalaya Kinniya on 25 and 26 November. \r\n\r\nThese seminars were successfully conducted by qualified teachers in the region under the guidance and Supervision of Major General KPA Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndu psc General Officer Commanding 22 Division and Education Department of the Eastern Province.

23 DIVISION ORGANIZED A SEMINAR FOR O/L STUDENTS

With the supervision of HQ 23 Division, 23l Brigade conducted a seminar for O/L students on Saturday 25 at Oddamavadi Central Collage with the participation of 110 students for Science and Mathematics subjects.\r\n\r\nTutorials were printed and distributed by the troops of 11 SLA and a delicious lunch and a tea were also provided. Lectures were conducted by Mr. D.M. Darshan and Mr. T. Jayadeepan. \r\n

4TH ANNIVERSARY WAS CELEBRATED BY TROOPS OF 24 DIVISION

A series of military and CIMIC-oriented programmes were organized by the 24 Division of - Ampara from 13 to 28 November 2017 to celebrate their fourth anniversary. Anniversary celebrations got underway giving prominence to religious functions and community welfare activities on the guidance of Major General Mahinda Mudalige RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding 24 Division.

SUCCESSFUL TERMINATION OF THE REALITY BASED SELF DEFENCE COURSE NO 03

Reality Based Self Defence (RBSD) or Reality Based Martial Arts refer to systems of self defence that focuses exclusively on reality based self defence scenarios and conditions. Unlike mixed martial arts and traditional martial arts styles like karate, reality based self defence is not a hobby or sport and it does not participate in tournaments or sport combat competitions.

233 BRGADE CONDUCTED SEMINAR FOR THE ORDINARY LEVEL STUDENTS IN WELIKANDA AREA

233 Brigade, with the guidance of 23 Division, conducted two day seminar for the students who will be sitting for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination in 2017. Seminar was conducted in Welikanda Madya Maha Vidyalaya for Mathematics and Science subjects on 29 and 30 November.\r\n\r\n125 students from the schools around the Welikanda area participated for the seminar. Mathematics seminar was conducted by Dileepa Gunawardena from University of Moratuwa and Science seminar was conducted by Dasun Udara, a RDA Engineer of Kegalle.

THE COMMANDER SF EAST VISITS FMA (E)

Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, Commander Security Forces (East) made his maiden visit to the Headquarters of Forward Maintenance Area (East).\r\n\r\nOn the arrival to the FMA (E) Headquarters, the Commander FMA (E) Major General Manoj Mudannayaka extended a welcome to the Commander SF (E) and he was accorded with a Guard Turnout in accordance with military formalities.

22 DIVISION ORGANIZES AN EYE CLINIC & DISTRIBUTES SPECTACLES FREE OF CHARGES

22 Division,in collaboration with police and the Lak Kalana Club organized an eye clinic and distributed 300 pairs of spectacles among under privileged people, suffering from vision impairments.\" The programme was held at Siri Vajiraramaya Temple in Trincomalee on Saturday (09).\r\n\r\nThe medical team of Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society conducted this mobile clinic and screened more than 460 civilians who are suffering from ailments and vision impairments before they recommend the use of spectacles.\r\n\r\nThe arrangements were coordinated actively by 22 the troops of Division under the
