4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch has organized a cleaning program
The 7th Light Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery conducted a school books and stationery distribution programme on 11th January 2026 for 54 students of NCP/PLN/HGK/MEDIRIGIRIYA / MAHAWELI Primary School, a remote school located in the Medirigiriya Divisional Secretariat.
Due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions, a huge Ahu / Indian Mulberry tree fell on a building of the GTMS College in KM/Tk Kanchirankuda which falls under the jurisdiction of the 8 SLNG of Engineers, which is under the control of this Infantry Battalion. The 8 SLNG of Engineers Disaster Relief Team was deployed on 11.01.2026 to cut down the tree and remove it. The support of the Thirukkovil Pradeshiya Sabha was also provided for this purpose.
Due to the bad weather conditions a tree branch fell on the premises of Am/Panama Maha Vidyalaya At the request of the college 01 × 10 troops belonging to the 14 SLSR under the 242 Infantry Brigade were deployed on 08.01.2026 to remove the branches from the tree.
