CARRYING OUT DISASTER RELIEF SERVICES

Due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions, a huge Ahu / Indian Mulberry tree fell on a building of the GTMS College in KM/Tk Kanchirankuda which falls under the jurisdiction of the 8 SLNG of Engineers, which is under the control of this Infantry Battalion. The 8 SLNG of Engineers Disaster Relief Team was deployed on 11.01.2026 to cut down the tree and remove it. The support of the Thirukkovil Pradeshiya Sabha was also provided for this purpose.

These disaster relief programwere carried out under the guidance of senior officer Major General WMNKD Bandara RWP RSP USP ndupsc General Officer Commanding 24 Inf Div, Brigadier KGAT Kelakorale RSP Brigade Commander 242 Infantry Brigade and under the full supervision of Major KD Liyanage CO 8 SLNG.
