Gautama Buddha's first visit to Sri Lanka on the ninth month after attaining Enlightenment this visit hold s historical significance due to many important events ,such as the inaguration of Sri Lanka .
To commemorate Duruthu poya daya, an occasion of great importance for Buddhists, a Buddha Puja and sermon was organized at the Security Force Headquarters-East. The ceremony was attended by the Guest of Commander security Forces (East), senior and junior officers, other ranks, and civil servants.
