Adverse weather conditions caused by the Ditva Cyclone, which affected the island, led to the collapse of the Mavilaru tank embankment in the Seruwila area, resulting in severe flooding. In response, the Tri-Forces made a significant contribution to the rescue of displaced civilians and the restoration of the damaged embankment.

The restoration work was jointly carried out by the Sri Lanka Army, The Mahaweli Authority and the Department of Irrigation following extensive damage caused by floods. The Elahera Anicut is one of the oldest and most significant irrigation engineering achievements in Sri Lanka. Built during the reign of King Vasambha (67–111 AD), For centuries, it has diverted water from the Amban River, a tributary of the Mahaweli River, through the Elahera Canal to the Minneriya, Giritale, Kaudulla and Kantale reservoirs, thereby supporting thousands of paddy fields and other cultivations in the Elahera, area Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee districts, while sustaining the livelihoods of farming communities.

On the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, and as directed by the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Major General H.D.L.S. Lalith Perera RWP RSP, and the Senior Officer Commanding, 223 Infantry Brigade, Colonel M.T.I. Gunawardena RSP psc, and under the guidance of the Commanding Officer of the 15th Sri Lanka Infantry Regiment, a programme to distribute dry ration bags and essential items was organized.

Kulathilaka ndc, and under the supervision of the Brigade Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier S.J.M.N. Perera USP, and the Commanding Officer, 7th Battalion, Gemunu Watch, Major R.M.W.K. Ratnayake USP LLMC, relief activities were carried out in the Kunghankulam area affected by adverse weather conditions.

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RWP ctf ndc psc IG, paid an official visit to the Security Forces Headquarters (East) area on 13 December 2025 to inspect the work sites of Army troops involved in reconstruction activities in disaster-affected areas.
