TROOPS DEPLOYEMETFORCLEARING THE OBSTRUCTED WEERADI ANICUT

Due to excessive rainfall, the Weeradi anicut, located in the Nainakadu area, became obstructed due to a significant accumulation of water hyacinth and logs. In response, 01x10 troops from the 11 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, which operates under the 241 Infantry Brigade, were deployed on 30December 2025 under the directives of Major General K W Jayaweera USP psc, the General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division and under the supervision of the Commander 241 Infantry Brigade. The operation successfully cleared the anicut of all obstructive water hyacinth and logs.
