4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch has organized a cleaning program conjunction with the objective of enhancing civil – military coordination and fostering reconciliation between the army and the civil population, a cleaning program was successfully conducted on 14 January 2026 from 0830hrs to 1300hrs. This initiative was organized to coincide with the Thai Pongal festival scheduled for 15 January 2026. The program was held at the Nediyamadu Pullayar Kovil and its surrounding area, situated in the 184/E Nediyamadu GN Division (Manmunei West DS Division) in 4 GW AOR. The cleaning program was carried out with the participation of 01X10 troops from this unit and with the civilian.
The local community expressed their deep appreciation toward the army for initiating such programs in respect of a significant cultural festival of the Tamil people.
