The art of the eight limbs (Muaythai/Boran) Martial Art Training Basic Course - 1 conducted at SF HQ (E) under the direction of Dte Gen Sports, Kru (Master) Muaythai Association (KMA) and World Muay Boran Federation (WMBF) was successfully completed on 18 Sep 17. The certificate awarding ceremony and the closing ceremony of the course was graced by the Commander SF (E) Maj Gen D S N K Senadeera WWV RWP RWP USP ndu.\r\n\r\nDuring this 3 month long course, athletes had an opportunity to learn Traditional Muay Boran (Martial Art) and Modern Muaythai (Sport Muaythai) techniques.

The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the New Holiday Bunglow for ORs was held on the auspicious time under the patronage of Comd SF (E) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu at the premises of SF HQ (East) on 19 September 2017 with the participation of Officers and Other Ranks, of the headquarters .

The finals of Inter Battalion Cricket Tournament of SF (East) took place on 21 September at SF HQ (East) grounds.\r\nA total of 27 cricket teams belong to SF (E) vied in the tournament that began a few weeks ago until the finalists 6 SLAC and 3(V) VIR teams were selected to face the final tussle on Thursday, in which the cricketers of 6 SLAC won the day.\r\nColonel Coordinating Officer SF HQ (East) Col M P P Perera who attended the prize-giving ceremony as the Chief Guest, gave away trophies and certificates to the winners of the series.

75 Students of Welikanda Primary School had a day of entertainment at Kayankerny Beach in the Eastern coast arranged by SF HQ (East) coincide with the World Children’s Day on 01 October 2017. The event was organized on the instructions of the Commander SF (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, providing the opportunity for the children to enjoy the day. The participants were provided lunch and made this day a memorable one. Col AQ SF HQ (East) Col K A I T Kuruwita, CAO of this HQ, 5 teachers and parents of the students participated for the event.

Headquarters 23 Division and under command Brigades celebrated the 68th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army with participation of GOC, 23 Division Maj Gen HWSDB Pananwala RSP ndu and all ranks on Tuesday (10) Morning.\r\n\r\n2. In line with the anniversary ceremonies, 23 Division fulfilled the requirement of much needed equipment (Book racks), library books and stationary for children of Thilahavathiyar Girl’s Home at Kathiraweli. 22 Division Troops organized a donation campaign along with old Anandians Group 75 - 80 at Somapura Maha Vidyalaya Kallar in Trincomalee District on Sunday (08). Somapura Maha Vidyalaya received a large stock of school accessories. Musical Instruments, exercise books and other stationery items.
