Under the guidelines and supervision of the Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, 12th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard troops organized a Special Lunch at the Bc/Weeranager vidyalaya premises at Uththuchchinai, on Monday (03), for this programme 160 Students and 15 Numbers of Teachers with staff were benefited, sponsorship extended by the Venerable Ketakubure Dharmaramathera, principle of the “Nalandha” Buddhist School at Pallekale.

Concurrences with the international tourism day, Coast Conservation and Coastal Resources Management Department and Chamber of Tourism and Industry have organized a series of tourism development programmes at Arugambay on Thursday (29) with collaboration of Army, Navy, Air Force and Police.

Accordingly, the programmes were held as a Tree planting programme along the Pottuvil lagoon, Beach clean-up programme along the coast Arugambay,Awareness programme at “Rupas Beach” Hotel Arugambay with several cultural events.

To coincide with the ongoing National Marine Resources Conservation Week and the International Coastal Cleanup Day-2022, the Security Forces-East launched several beach cleaning programmes covering highly polluted major coastal areas, littered with discarded wrappers, polythene, plastic bottles, empty beer cans, empty liquor bottles, etc.
