12 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the of 232 Infantry Brigade under the 23 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters – East (SFHQ-E), considering the humanitarian plight of pregnant women of low income groups supplied with dry rations and nutrients on Thursday (10) with the sponsorship of local donors.
Under the guidance of Commander 231 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarchchi, a programme was organized to distribute dry ration packs and lunch packs worth of Rs. 2500.00 (Each pack) among under privileged families of Muneikadu south at Kockadicholei in Batticaloa district on 11 June 2021.
Under the guidance of Commander 231 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarchchi, lunch packs were distributed for poor people living in Batticaloa Town, Kattankudy, Eravur and Ariyampathy on 08 June 2021. Troops of 4 GW and 11(V) SLSR battalions conducted the programme by distributing the lunch packs at above mentioned areas.

Yet another Covid 19 Treatment Centre (Capacity- 70 patients) was established in Trincomalee district with the directions of Major General Samantha Silva General Officer Commanding - 22 Infantry Division and with the supervision of Commander 223 Brigade. Thereby, the Ayuruvedic Hospital Kurinchakerny was converted into a Covid 19 treatment centre by the troops of 15 SLLI with the assistance of health authorities in Trincomalee District.
As per the directions given by Major General Samantha Silva General Officer Commanding - 22 Infantry Division, Ayuruvedic Hospital Kappalthurei (Capacity 50 patients) has been Coverted into a Covid 19 treatment centre as a readiness to face any emergency situation in the wake of rapid contamination of the COVID - 19 3rd wave in the country. The treatment centre was established by the troops of 2 (V) GR Battalion under the supervision of Commander 221 Brigade and health authorities in Trincomalee District.
