The national vaccination drive, spearheaded by members of the armed forces as recommended by the Ministry of Health, commenced one more progressive phase on Friday (14) by providing the 3rd dose or the booster dose for the civilians covering the entire districts of Ampara, Trincomalee and Polonnaruwa.
This vaccination drive is a concept of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and it was initiated in the Eastern province by 22, 23, 24 Infantry Divisions and FMA-E on the directions of the Commander Security Forces (East).
The programme is conducted under the supervision of General Officer Commanding of respective divisions and the Commander FMA-E and it will be implemented throughout the province within next few days. Medical teams of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) will accordingly administer the vaccine at the respective vaccination centres.
