Ahead of the Christmas, the troops of 11th and 16th Battalions of Sri Lanka National Guard of 241 Infantry Brigade under the 24 Infantry Division of Security Force Headquarters (East) conducted sharmadana campaigns to clean up the surroundings of “Sinnamuhuthuwaram” Church, Akkarapatthu and “Holly Cross” Church at Sorrikalmunai on 09and 11 December 2021.
In order to facilitate people participating for masses during Christmas season, the two premises were made neat and tidy by the troops under the guidance of Major General Caminda Lamahewa General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division and with the direction of Brigadier Chandra Abeykoon Commander 241 Infantry Brigade. Commanding Officer 11 SLNG Lieutenant Colonel Dhammika Weerasinghe and Commanding Officer of 16 SLNG Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Kodithuwakku led these projects with the troops and the civilians of respective areas.
