Brigadier Ananda Jayarathne USP ato, who was born on 07.10.1969 is a proud product of Tholangamuwa Central College, Kegalle. This Senior Officer joined the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army on 10th February 1992 as an Officer cadet of intake 37 to the Sri Lanka Military Academy Diyathalawa and completed his cadet training from Pakistan Military Academy, later he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps on 14th April 1994.

During his military career he was held various appointments in both operational and non operational areas including Assistant Officer Commanding - Forward Ordnance Depot (EPS), Platoon Commander - Internal Security 52 Div (JFN), Adjutant - Officer Commanding Troops (KKS), Adjutant - Divisional Ordnance Unit (PNG), Staff Officer III (A) - RHQ SLAOC (PNG), Officer Commanding - Forward Ordnance Deport (MNR), Maj (AQ) - Cdo Bde, Staff Officer III - MGO Branch (AHQ), Stock Control Officer - BOD (MARADANA), SO II - PROC (STORES) Dte of Ord Svcs (AHQ), Staff Officer - UN Mission (Haiti), Account Officer - RHQ SLAOC, Staff Officer I - MGO Branch (AHQ), Commanding Officer - 5th Regiment Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, Staff Officer I (A) - RHQ SLAOC, Overlooking Commandant - Sch of Ord (DOMBAGODA), Staff Officer I - Provision, Procurement, Progress BR (PPP BR), GP - I & GP - 3 (DOS-AHQ), COL (AQ) - SFHQ (J), Col Ord - Dte of Ord Svcs (AHQ), Commandant - Army Ordnance Industries (Veyangoda) Presently this Senior Officer is serving as the Director at Directorate of Ordnance Service at Army Headquarters - Sri Jayawardenapura, Colombo.

To his credit, he has attended a number of local and foreign courses of academic and professional value. It includes Junior Staff Officer Course - SLMA Diyathalawa, Ordnance Young Officers Course - Bangladesh, Potential Staff Officer Course - Kukulegaga, Ammunition Technical Officer course - China, Senior Management Course - India, Officer Procurement Course - Bangladesh, Defense Management Course - India.

The Senior Officer has been conferred with Uththama Sewa Padakkama, East Humanitarian Operational Medal, North Humanitarian Operational Medal, Poorna Boomi Padakkama, North And East Operations Medal, Riviresa Campaign Services Medal, 50th Independence Anniversary Medal 1998, Sri Lanka Army 50th Anniversary Medal 1999, Sri Lanka Armed Service Long Services Medal 1979, Videsha Sewa Padakkama, United Nations Medal, Sewabhimani Padakkama, Service Medal,75th Independence Anniversary Medal 2023 during his illustrious service in the Army.

He is married to Mrs. Renuka Ekanayake and has two children, a son, and a daughter, and resides in Warakapola.
