Brigadier RAPAB Dissanayaka AATO was born on 24th February 1972, is a proud product of Wariyapola Vijayabahu Central College. He commenced his career in the regular force of the Sri Lanka Army on 31st December 1993, as an Officer Cadet of Intake SC 08 A. Following the successful completion of basic military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and assigned to the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps on 17th June 1995.

Throughout his military tenure, Brigadier Anuruddha Dissanayaka has undertaken various roles encompassing both operational and non-operational spheres. These include positions such as Pl Comd 23 Div (WLK), OC 23 Div (WLK), Gp Offr – 1 SLAOC (PNG), Adjt – 1 SLAOC (PNG), Adjt – BOD (Maradhana), SO II -Dte of Ord Svcs, SO 2 (S & M ) – SF HQ (J), 2IC – 3 SLAOC (MIN), CO – 3 SLAOC (MIN), Dy Comdt – BOD (Maradhana), Comdt- ACD (Weyangodha), Comdt - CAAD (Weyangodha) and Over looking DOS & Colonel Ordnance - Dte of Ord Svcs. Presently, Colonel Anuruddha Dissanayaka serves as the Commandant of the Base Ordnance depot.

Brigadier Dissanayaka’s professional development includes participation in numerous local and foreign academic and professional courses, notably the Young Officer Course (ITC), Junior Command Course - 02 at OCDC (Buththala), UN Mission Training Course (KKG), IPSOTSL (KKG) & RHQ SLLI, Induction Training – (Lebanon), Basic Ordnance Officer Course 25 at Bangaladhesh, Advance Materials Management Course 19 at India, Senior Management Officer Course 44 at India.

In recognition of his service, Brigadier Dissanayaka has been awarded the, East Humanitarian Operation Medal, North Humanitarian Operation Medal, Purna Bhumi Padakkama, North and East Operations Medal, Rivirasa Medal, 50 th Independence Anniversary Medal 1998, The Republic of Sri Lanka Army 50 th Anniversary Medal, Videsha Seva Padakkama, United Nation Medal (Minustah), Sewabimani Padakkama and Service Medal.

Brigadier Anurudda Dissanayaka is married to Mrs. C D Hettiarachchi and blessed with a daughter named RA Tharushi Prabashwari.
